Job Description:

As power electronics engineer, you will design mechanical components of the energy and power dense lithium-ion battery packs and DC/DCs from 0.5-40 kW to be used in AirCar. Optimizing designs for reliability, weight, and efficiency will be the focus.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop designs meeting required mechanical, electrical, and thermal specifications unique to a lithium-ion battery systems and BMS

  • Develop designs meeting required power distribution systems, DC/DC converters, cabling and connectors

​

  • Utilize lightweight materials and packaging solutions to reduce weight

​

  • Perform hand calculations and first principal analysis of designs followed by optimization in FEA software packages

​

  • Build and test your own designs to ensure first articles meet functional requirements

​

  • Participate in design reviews to ensure cross functional alignment and solicit feedback

Requirements:

  • B.Sc./M.Sc./Ph.D. in relevant discipline with a focus in power electronics

​

  • Experience in aviation or EV industry

​

  • Completed (designed/built/tested) high voltage/high power designs at 400V

​

  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout board EDA tools, and with grounding, shielding and EMC design techniques

​

  • Experience with fluid heat transfer

​

  • Strong CAD skills

​

  • Experience with FEA packages

​

  • Preferred knowledge of aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 & 27 aircraft

​

  • Preferred experience with DO-160G, DO-254, DO-311A aerospace standards

​

  • Preferred experience with UN38.3, IEC, ISO, and UL electrification standards

​

  • Good understanding of all technical aspects related to aircraft systems and aircraft flight physics

​

  • Self-starter with the ability work both autonomously and as part of a team, hands-on attitude

​

  • Good writing and speaking skills in English, excellent communication, negotiation skills

​

  • Available to travel, if/as required
